Washington Trip - Part 2: Seattle

Our first half of the trip was spent in the Olympic National Forest, which you can read about here! Finally in Seattle, which I was originally super excited to visit. I loved the idea of Seattle because coffee and city and stuff.

Not necessarily the case.

I absolutely loved all of the food I ate and coffee I drank. Seattle (I did not realize) is known for its drug problems. There were a lot of homeless people, which is common in cities and didn't really bother me, but the amount of junkies we came across was a little unsettling.

Regardless, I tried to ignore the junkies and just enjoy the city. My favorite area was the Pike Place Market, which was super awesome and just like you would imagine. It was an enormous farmer's market style area, with small restaurants and coffee shops, freshly caught fish, a wide variety of fruit and veggies, little bodegas and asian shops for all of your cultural food needs, and other stations like fresh flowers, leather goods, lavender products, and typical tourist stuff.

In Pike Place Market, we ended up trying several restaurants and coffee shops. The first day we ate at Pike Place Chowder Company and grabbed coffee around the corner. On another day we tried Piroshky Piroskhy, a Russian bakery that had amazing breakfast goods. We went into the first Starbucks, which was crazy crowded, but full of merch that you could only buy in that coffee shop. We also tried drinks at a ginger beer bar, which was tasty.

We stayed at an AirBnB in the Columbia district, which was a <10 minute walk to the closest Link station and a <30 minute ride to Pike Place Market. About 10 minutes from our AirBnB was a delicious restaurant called Super Six which had an Asian Fusion x PNW menu.

One afternoon we hopped on the Link and made our way to the Fremont Troll. We spent a few hours in Fremont, where we came across a bar called Schillings, which only served spiked apple cider, it was amazing. Jose and I ended up going there twice to just chill and play board games. I am 100% down to having more cider bars in the U.S.

We also went and grabbed lunch in the Capitol Hill district at a place called The Wandering Goose, which specialized in comfort home cooking. They make the *best* biscuits I have ever had, and even make biscuit cinnamon rolls. Yes, it's as good as it sounds.

Our next to last day was spent exploring the Museum of Pop Culture. I heard it had some amazing exhibits, but it was seriously the coolest museum I've ever been in. There was a Star Trek exhibit, a Sci-Fi exhibit, a Fantasy exhibit, a Horror exhibit, a David Bowie exhibit, a Jimi Hendrix exhibit, a Nintendo indie game interactive exhibit, a Jim Henson exhibit, and a interactive instrumental/music exhibit. We spent hours in there exploring all of the exhibits and playing music on all of the equipment they had to play with. That was probably my second favorite part of the Seattle trip (the first being the food).

Our last day was spent just chilling out and exploring places we hadn't gotten to yet. We went to Chinatown and ate at a hotpot restaurant, which was a pretty neat experience.

Overall, our trip was great. I was glad to spend 9 days with Jose and just explore a new place. I'm still dreaming about biscuits. If you want more Washington, go check out my vlog
